NEWS; Wilfried Gnonto considers Leeds United future with another transfer now on cards

The Italian outlet reported (3 August) that Parma, Venezia and Genoa are all competing for the 20-year-old, with negotiations potentially starting at a loan-to-buy option.

It is said that Gnonto finds the thought of another season in the Championship “unappealing” after the club failed to gain promotion to the Premier League last season.

Much like Crysencio Summerville, Gnonto is one of Leeds’ strongest attackers and helped them reach 90 points in the Championship last term.

However, now that the Dutchman has one foot out of the Elland Road exit door, their need for attacking reinforcement is rife.

And, whilst it may seem unproductive for the Whites to sanction the exit of Gnonto, the fact that he has been linked with a departure in both of the last two summer transfer windows and may not want to stick around again.

Leeds will likely want to avoid a ‘Groundhog Day’ scenario with Gnonto so should he exit, the club needs to ensure that a deal is swiftly agreed if that is the case.

The sale of the 20-year-old could help fund additions across the board and with the influx of cash from the exit of Summerville, but in reality, that would set them back even further.

The club have already been linked with a move for another Dutchman, Sontje Hansen, as their Summerville replacement [Voetbal International, 3 August] but only time will tell whether these rumoured deals will come to fruition.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites have been backed to win the race for an “exciting” ace who could snub a top-flight move.
