The Minnesota Vikings are heading into their season opener against the New York Giants with a cloud of uncertainty surrounding two of their top wide receivers. Jordan Addison, who suffered an ankle sprain during a joint practice last month, is in a race against time to be fit for Sunday’s game. Coach Kevin O’Connell expressed optimism about Addison’s recovery, stating that the receiver is in a “good spot” and is expected to ramp up his practice this week, but his status remains uncertain.
Jalen Nailor, another key receiver, is also nursing an ankle injury, compounding the pressure on new starting quarterback Sam Darnold. With the Vikings facing a tough early schedule, including games against playoff teams like the San Francisco 49ers and Green Bay Packers, the absence of these receivers could seriously hamper the offense’s effectiveness.
Adding to the challenge, Darnold will be without two-time Pro Bowl tight end T.J. Hockenson for at least the first month of the season. As Darnold prepares for his first start with the Vikings, he is under immense pressure to deliver, especially with limited options in the passing game.
