Leeds United have opened talks to loan forward sensation Luca Thomas to National League high flyers York, sources have told Football Insider.
The Yorkshire giants want the 20-year-old to gain some first-team experience after tearing it up this season in Premier League 2, where he’s scored six goals in five games.
Sources have told Football Insider that Leeds are working on a loan move for Thomas that will likely run until the end of December.
He signed a new one-year contract with Leeds in July after first penning professional terms in the summer of 2022.
Although the transfer window is currently closed for higher-level moves, deals can still be agreed with non-league clubs.
York City currently sit third in the National League after winning seven of their opening 13 games, and they are just four points behind current league leaders Barnet
Thomas has not been exposed to first-team football at a senior level, so this move would be the next step for his career.
Leeds United want to fast-track Luca Thomas‘ development
Thomas has been a proven goalscorer throughout his youth career at Leeds, scoring 35 goals in 62 games.
