Barrett Jones was selected to represent The University of Alabama as part of the Southeastern Conference Football Legends Class of 2024, the league office announced Tuesday. Jones is one of 16 former stars who excelled on the gridiron and helped write the rich history of the sport at the Capstone.
The class will be honored at the 2024 SEC Football “Weekend of Champions” Dec. 6-7 in Atlanta, Ga., highlighted by the annual SEC Legends Celebration on Friday, Dec. 6 at the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta. The group will also be recognized prior to the SEC Football Championship Game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Saturday, Dec. 7.
- Helped Alabama to three national championships in his four years as a starter on the Crimson Tide offensive line
- Started 50 career games, playing three different positions (tackle, guard, center)
- A three-time All-America honoree who earned first-team honors his final two seasons at Alabama
- The 2011 winner of the Outland Trophy, presented annually to the nation’s top interior lineman
- A standout in the classroom as well, Jones was the only four-time Academic All-American in program history and finished with a perfect 4.0 grade-point average during his time at UA
- Selected as the 2012 Academic All-American of the Year across all sports while also earning the NCAA Top 10 Award and an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship that same season
- Honored as the 2012 William V. Campbell Trophy winner, known as the “Academic Heisman”
- Named the 2013 SEC H. Boyd McWhorter Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year, the conference’s top scholar-athlete across all sports
