Ferrari still “can’t wait to have” Lewis Hamilton next year despite a wretched weekend in Texas for the seven-time Formula 1 champion.
That is the view of Sky Sports F1 pundit Ted Kravitz. The experienced pit lane reporter shared it as he reflected on an awful weekend for Hamilton at the United States Grand Prix.
The 39-year-old was prevented from making progress in the Sprint by a broken bearing which created a rattle in his car. But things got much worse when he suffered a Q1 knockout in qualifying for the main race before beaching his Mercedes in the gravel on just the second lap
In contrast, his future employers Ferrari dominated the Grand Prix to secure a first one-two on American soil since 2006. Hamilton’s 2025 team-mate Charles Leclerc secured his third win of the year while Carlos Sainz, who is losing his seat to the Brit, was second.
Despite that turn of events, Kravitz is certain that there is no buyer’s remorse from the Italians. He said: “Even if Ferrari were not winning races, [Hamilton] would think it is not [the wrong decision to leave Mercedes]. It changes, doesn’t it, from race to race?
“You can say when Mercedes had a great Grand Prix but Ferrari [did not]. You get races where Ferrari are not doing great and Mercedes are. You think, ‘Lewis might be thinking what is going on at Ferrari?’
