JUST IN; Update on Nicolas Raskin’s injury has been announced at Rangers

Philippe Clement’s side face the Red Devils at Murrayfield on Saturday (20 July) in their third game of the summer, but the Belgian midfielder is unlikely to feature having picked up an injury in the clash with Ajax.

Raskin was seen leaving the ground in a protective boot having been on the end of a rash tackle in the first half and Four Lads host Clifford thinks it is unlikely he will be fit in time to play at Murrayfield.

Speaking on The Rangers Review YouTube channel (18 July, 13:41) he said: “I’m waiting on something on that Derek so I won’t say too much about it, but I don’t think you’ll see him at the weekend.

“We just need to wait and see until we get clarification on that.”

Rangers have had to contend with more than their fair share of injuries over the last few seasons and the early signs in pre-season suggest that will continue to be the case under Clement this term.

Raskin could do little about his knock against Ajax as he was just unfortunate to be on the end of a fairly rash tackle. The Belgian plays in an all-action sort of manner which means that he is always running the risk of picking up a knock.

Hopefully, he won’t miss anything more than the Manchester United clash so that he can still have the majority of pre-season to prepare ahead of the new campaign as he seems to be a key part of Clement’s plans.

It wasn’t too long ago that pundits and supporters alike were expecting the midfielder to be sold having barely kicked a ball under the Belgian, but the early signs in pre-season show that he may still have a part to play.

Supporters will just be hoping his injury isn’t as bad as was initially feared.
