BREAKING NEWS; Leao Can’t Be a Champion Just for His Dribbling Skills—“He’s Not an……

Rafael Leao’s potential has always been evident, but frustration continues to mount over his inconsistency on the field. This issue is not new; despite contributing more than 25 goals and assists last season, questions linger about his ability to deliver consistently strong performances. Observers have noted a persistent struggle for Leao to dominate games, which raises doubts about whether he can be considered the best player on his team.

In the past 14 months, fans and analysts alike have been left wanting more from the Portuguese forward. On his best days, Leao undoubtedly possesses the talent to shine; however, those standout performances are infrequent, prompting calls for him to make adjustments to his game. Former football star Hernan Crespo weighed in on the matter, providing insights into Leao’s current form and his future with AC Milan during an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport, as reported by Milan News.

Crespo praised Leao’s technical and athletic qualities but highlighted a crucial gap: maturity. “He is a talent with remarkable qualities,” Crespo said, “but he has not yet reached the level of maturity that a champion must possess.” He emphasized that simply having the ability to dribble does not qualify a player as a champion, suggesting that the praise Leao receives may be premature.

Crespo expressed concern that some players, like Leao, can falter just before reaching their full potential. “I hope this is not the case with Leao,” he noted, adding that the forward needs to tap into his character to break through to the next level. The former player made a clear distinction between a good player and a champion: continuity is key.

“Leao can produce fantastic moments for two or three games, but then he disappears,” Crespo pointed out. He contrasted this with the reliability of true champions, who maintain a presence on the field regardless of their form. The question remains: can Milan rely on Leao to be that consistent presence?

Crespo also refrained from speculating about Leao’s contractual situation, emphasizing that if his inconsistency continues, he may not add significant value to the team. This is particularly disappointing, given Leao’s immense potential. “He hasn’t made the leap in quality, not only with Milan but also with the national team,” Crespo concluded.

As the season progresses, the pressure mounts on Leao to find that elusive consistency. Milan supporters are hopeful that he can rise to the occasion and become the transformative player they know he can be. For now, the club must navigate the uncertainty surrounding his performances and the impact on their overall ambitions.
