Despite a tough loss to Georgia, Texas has gotten off to a strong start in the SEC and is a team to watch going into the final stretch of the season. Interestingly, one player from the Texas football program has seen his name rise up the draft boards quickly amid an incredible season with the team. After the 2023 campaign, Texas lost several star players on offense, including Xavier Worthy, Jonathan Brooks and Adonai Mitchell. In turn, Alabama transfer Isaiah Bond has stepped up. Through the first chunk of the season, he leads the Longhorns with 380 yards and four touchdowns and is second on the team in receptions (23), allowing him to make his way up on several draft boards.

Luke Easterling of Athlon Sports put together a new 2025 NFL mock draft. In it, he had the Washington Commanders selecting Bond to give Jayden Daniels another option in the passing game. “Jayden Daniels looks like an absolute superstar already, so it’s up to the Commanders to give him everything he needs to play up to his full and lofty potential,” Easterling wrote. “If there’s not an offensive lineman worthy of this slot, Washington could give Daniels another explosive pass-catcher in Bond, who would pair well with Terry McLaurin to make the passing game even more dangerous.” Daniels has stepped in and exceeded expectations early on in the NFL after winning the Heisman Trophy at LSU. The Commanders quarterback has 10 total touchdowns through seven games and has led them to a 5-2 record.

With Terry McLaurin leading the way in the receiving game, adding a player such as Bond would be another big boost for the offense. The Commanders’ WR room is a bit scarce outside of McLaurin as Zach Ertz and Austin Ekeler are the next two leaders in the receiving yards category. Next up is veteran Noah Brown, who has just 14 catches for 185 yards, so the Commanders would be smart to give Daniels another receiving threat.
