Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers is still on the hunt to strengthen his squad ahead of the new 2024/25 season.
The boss has already added goalkeeping duo Kasper Schmeichel and Viljami Sinisalo to the Parkhead ranks this summer, but the need for outfield reinforcements remains high.
There are several positions in the squad which need addressing over the next few weeks. The midfield and defence both need to be beefed up but out wide, some added quality could be useful. Michel-Ange Balikwisha is a man who could bring such calibre.
The Hoops were initially linked with the Royal Antwerp attacker at the beginning of the week, with his manager recently stating that losing him wouldn’t be ideal.
Yesterday, we got an update on Celtic’s pursuit of the player. Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri stated on X that Brendan Rodgers has talked with Balikwisha, but that his agent has contacted Stade Rennais about the availability of his services.
Rodgers’ intervention is telling. The manager clearly rates Balikwisha and likely wants him at Celtic if he has spoken personally with him.
Let’s wait and see what the next few days and weeks hold regarding this transfer saga.
