Indiana Pacers’ Pascal Siakam isn’t keen on testing the free agent market this offseason. Instead, the All-Star forward plans to stay with the franchise and sign a max contract, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowsk
Siakam’s new deal with the Pacers will tie him to the franchise for four years and will be worth $189.5 million. He was reportedly presented with the offer earlier this week and will officially sign the contract on July 6, when the NBA’s free agency moratorium expires.
Siakam landed with the Pacers in January in a trade from the Toronto Raptors. Indiana gave up Bruce Brown, Jordan Nwora, and Kira Lewis Jr., as well as three first-round draft picks, despite Siakam being a pending free agent with the understanding that they had a good chance to re-sign him.
In 41 games with the Pacers during the 2023-24 regular season, Siakam averaged 21.3 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 3.7 assists. He then proceeded to play an integral part in Indiana’s run to the Eastern Conference Finals appearance, averaging 21.6 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game.
Pascal Siakam started his professional career as the 27th overall selection by the Raptors in 2016. He was voted NBA’s Most Improved Player in 2019, the same year the Raptors won their first NBA championship, and followed that up with two All-Star appearances in 2020 and 2023.
