Fajardo said in quotes reported by Betis BeSoccer (25 June) that a Roca is a “priority and the positions are very close”.
The midfielder spent last season on loan with the La Liga side and Betis have put the former Bayern Munich on their summer shopping list.
Roca was brought into the club during their final season in the Premier League where they managed to finish in 19th place, five points adrift from safety.
Upon their relegation, alongside both Leicester and Southampton, the West Yorkshire outfit were expected to find their way straight back into the top flight due to the talent they had at their disposal.
However, thanks to their failure to achieve promotion they now face the prospect of having to sell players to keep within financial rules limits.
Summerville is arguably the player who has been most touted with a move away from the club but recently, Liverpool have seemingly pulled themselves out of the race [Graeme Bailey, 22 June].
In addition to the Netherlands international, Roca has been consistently linked with a move back to Betis [Marca, 18 June] and it finally seems as if a deal is coming to fruition and given he spent last season away from Elland Road it wouldn’t be a miss at all in reality.
