The management of the 49ers has communicated the imperative need to execute sales this summer, and the club has actively pursued this strategic direction. Thus far, significant transactions have been completed, with the sales of Marc Roca, Kris Klaesson, and Archie Gray amounting to a combined approximate total of £45m. Additionally, both Robin Koch and Luis Sinisterra have formalized permanent agreements with their respective loan clubs, a decision that was reached earlier in the year. Furthermore, Jack Harrison, Sonny Perkins, and Sam Greenwood have embarked on loan spells away from Elland Road, extending until the conclusion of the 2024-25 season.
Jamie Shackleton has transferred to Sheffield United on a free, while Liam Cooper, Ian Poveda, and Cody Drameh have become free agents. Despite a significant number of departures, the club has offset this by acquiring Joe Rodon and Brenden Aaronson.
Eight players have departed on loan utilizing Orta’s relegation clause. Of those, five players, notably Koch, Sinisterra, Harrison, Roca, and Aaronson, have secured their future. However, for Max Wober, Rasmus Kristensen, and Diego Llorente, their future with the club remains undecided.
Wober and Kristensen are likely to take their holidays subsequent to their participation in Euro 2024. Llorente has expressed a strong desire to secure a permanent move to Serie A side Roma, where he has been on loan for the past 18 months. However, Roma opted not to acquire him, and he is now poised to transfer to Betis for a fee of £2.5m, as confirmed by Fabrizio Romano. Subsequently, Graham Smyth reported that Leeds have accepted a bid for him.
