According to the outlet’s website on 10 July the midfielder was the target when scouts from Ibrox were sent to watch his 2-1 friendly victory over Livingston
After the teenager’s “breakthrough” campaign at Fir Park last term he is now a potential target for the Light Blues, where he would fit the profile of young talents already signed this summer “in a bid to sell on for big money down the line”.
Philippe Clement and Nils Koppen have already snapped up one young Scottish midfielder this summer after signing former Aberdeen ace Connor Barron, with a tribunal on the cards to settle the compensation fee.
At just 17 Miller has already shown his undoubted quality and at that age there is the potential for him to improve significantly still.
Former Ibrox midfielder Barry Ferguson branded him an “unbelievable talent” as he highlighted the Motherwell man alongside Barron as two of the most impressive homegrown options to strengthen Clement’s side this summer in the Daily Record on 31 May.
Ferguson’s brother Derek has previously backed the Gers to work out a deal for Miller, telling Ibrox News he preferred the Fir Park talent out of the pair, although it is seen as too early for him to head to Ibrox by some.
James McFadden called him technically “outstanding” and mentally “ridiculous” as he was blown away by the youngster’s performances in the Scottish Premiership last season [Open Goal, 2 May], so the prospect of Miller following Barron to Glasgow is bound to catch supporters’ attention
Clement lost both John Lundstram and Ryan Jack this summer, and while the focus of late has been on a potential move to bring in 32-year-old Kenny McLean from Norwich alongside Barron it would be a deal at the other end of the scale to pursue a target 15 years his junior.
With a year left on Miller’s contract in Stuart Kettlewell’s squad it may be that a move is on the cards sooner or later, and amid rival interest from Celtic it would make sense for the Light Blues to make sure they are at the front of the queue, although whether Clement would view him as a regular starter yet could be a key consideration.
