Abdul Fatawu’s £14m permanent switch from Sporting Lisbon has finally been announced, the Ghanaian winger following Bobby De Cordova-Reid, Michael Golding and Caleb Okoli through the door.
Abdul Fatawu is finally a permanent Leicester City player with the winger signing a five-year deal to stay at the club.
One of the stars of City’s Championship triumph during a season-long loan from Sporting Lisbon, the 20-year-old wide-man has joined in a £14m transfer that will delight supporters. Fatawu’s dribbling ability, speed, attacking threat and defensive work-rate has made him a fan favourite.
It was expected that Fatawu would be City’s first signing of the summer. Sporting manager Ruben Amorim confirmed the deal would be going ahead in early May, while Fatawu himself has been talking up the move on social media over recent weeks.
Instead, the Ghanaian is the fourth man through the door at City, following Bobby De Cordova-Reid, Michael Golding, and Caleb Okoli. Wilfred Ndidi has also signed a new deal, with Steve Cooper’s squad coming together five weeks out from the new Premier League season.
