UPDATE; Brighton green light Mark O’Mahony move to new club

Brighton forward Mark O’Mahony has garnered interest from multiple Championship clubs this summer, as informed by sources at Football Insider.

The Premier League club are keen to find the right Championship loan for the 19-year-old Irish forward as they look to develop him through first-team football.

Numerous clubs are said to be interested in O’Mahony who broke into the Brighton first-team last season, making his debut against Burnley in April.

O’Mahony joined Brighton from Cork City in January 2023 and is highly rated by the South Coast club.

Much like fellow Irishman Evan Ferguson, O’Mahony joined Brighton from the youth set-up of an Irish Premier League side and that’s not where the similarities end.

Both forwards have strikingly similar profiles. O’Mahony is just as combative as Ferguson, with the ability to score from almost any angle.

O’Mahony was prolific in the Premier League 2 last season before being moved up to the first-team, scoring ten goals and assisted two in 11 outings.

It’s unclear how much longer Ferguson will be at the club, the 19-year-old has caught the eye of many Premier League big boys.

Should Ferguson leave the club in the near future, a good loan move could put O’Mahony in good stead to replace him.
