TEAMtalk reported (16 July) that the Whites remain interested in bringing SKipp to Elland Road but that they could miss out as several Premier League are interested in his signature.
Daniel Farke is understood to be a fan of Skipp’s, having previously worked together during their time at Norwich City, and Robinson thinks if they could pull it off it would be similar to Leicester City signing Harry Winks last summer.
Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Robinson said: “I think he would have been a great player to come in. I liken him to Harry Winks when he was at Tottenham – a very similar type of player. They’ve been in similar situations at Spurs.
“I know Ange Posteceoglou likes him and plays him in games, but he doesn’t start him all the time. He’s not the first choice there but he’s good to have around, so if Leeds can sign him, it would be a real coup.
“It would be like Winks going to Leicester City, having refound his top-level form and went on to win the Championship with them. An Oliver Skipp signing for Leeds would be in the mould of Winks to Leicester.
Considering both Glen Kamara and Archie Gray have now departed Elland Road, the 23-year-old could have been a really important addition to the squad.
With Premier League clubs now in the frame for his signature, Leeds will need to make a significant offer to bring him to the club instead, and the previous work with Farke may not be enough.
Although he made 21 league appearances under Posteocoglou last term, only five of those were from the start, suggesting that he is surplus to requirement at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Despite this, Leeds looks unlikely to bring him to Elland Road this summer.
In other Leeds United news, Junior Firpo could make a transfer U-turn after what he did v Harrogate Town.
