Bronny James’ first steps in the NBA haven’t gone unnoticed.
The Los Angeles Lakers rookie struggled mightily early on in the Summer League and drew plenty of criticism.
Despite his struggles, he continued to have an abnormal level of coverage for a No. 55 pick, and that rubbed plenty of people the wrong way.
As a matter of fact, there was a report stating that even his own teammates were uncomfortable because of it, up to the point where their Summer League squad didn’t even have good chemistry as a result.
However, Lakers rookie Blake Hinson doesn’t feel that way.
Talking to Lakers Nation, he claimed that Bronny was just a regular guy like everybody else in the locker room, and doubted if there was any truth to that report (via Trevor Lane).
Of course, one wouldn’t expect a rookie trying to make a living in the NBA — and especially on LeBron James’ team — to say otherwise, especially with the unmatched level of power, leverage, and media platform James and Klutch Sports have.
Hinson might feel that way and other rookies might see things differently.
What is an objective fact is that Bronny isn’t covered like the average No. 55 pick and borderline rotation player, and that’s for obvious reasons.
Still, there will come a point in which LeBron won’t be in the league anymore and it’ll be up to him to prove that he belongs and is deserving of a roster spot.
