According to Bild, Bayern Munich’s attempts to sign Jonathan Tah may be set to end due to their inability to sell Matthijs de Ligt.
It had previously been reported that Der Rekordmeister’s key target for this summer’s transfer window was Bayer Leverkusen centre-back Jonathan Tah. However, despite personal terms having already been agreed upon between the pair, the move could be set to collapse.
As it stands, Bayern do not currently have the finances to complete a move for the German international. Die Werkself value Tah at €40 million and would only consider entering negotiations with Bayern should a €30 million offer be made.
Der Rekordmeister’s last offer to Leverkusen is believed to have been a €25 million package, with €20 million being paid upfront alongside €5 million in future add-ons.
Nevertheless, this offer, contrary to previous reports, was made last month. Bayern have since failed to offer an improved bid for Tah, having been quickly shut down by the German champions in June.
As well as this, a deal for Tah was dependent on Bayern offloading de Ligt. Despite talks with Manchester United initially being positive, the Red Devils have since made it clear that they will not meet Bayern’s €50 million valuation for the Dutch defender.
With Hiroki Ito having also broken his foot in Bayern’s recent pre-season friendly against FC Düren, there is a feeling that de Ligt may remain in Bavaria this summer. If this is the case, then it appears a move for Tah, which is currently stalling, will ultimately collapse.
