Leeds’ first defeat of the season uncovered more of the same issues for Daniel Farke that plagued his poor results last season in failing to get promoted.
Chiefly, how he struggled to alter the course of the game with his talented array of substitutes was a concern.
He made his debut against Hull City as the hosts looked to see out that 2-0 win, but combined with his late cameo against Burnley, the winger has only managed 28 minutes across two games thus far.
Given the winger cost such a substantial amount for Leeds, it seems peculiar that Farke isn’t more willing to give him a chance earlier in these two games.
A lack of tactical input since he joined is something Farke will attribute to his lack of playing time, but that looks a poor argument when considering Burnley named four starters in their midfield and attack against Leeds that joined at Turf Moor after Ramazani moved to Leeds, and looked more than comfortable with their roles throughout the game.
Standing in Solomon’s way for a full debut is the fact that Manor Solomon looks good from his first two games since joining on loan from Tottenham, with Willy Gnonto also vital and operating on the right.
Ramazani fortunately can play in either position, adding versatility to Farke’s attack and a means to switch things up in the event of a setback.
Which is exactly what appears to be the case with Solomon revealed to be a doubt for today’s game after a back issue emerging this week, opening the door for Ramazani’s full debut.
The Belgian deserves his chance and looks more than good enough after two years of La Liga experience and the limited evidence we’ve seen at Elland Road.
In the process, Leeds may have a solution to their lopsided attacking play so far, giving them a more potent and natural right-sided outlet than Willy Gnonto, who in turn can shift back to his best-suited left-wing role.
