BREAKING NEWS; Daniel Farke’s recent  ongoing struggle with converting chances……

Leeds United won 2-0 away at Cardiff City over the weekend but it took them a while to kill the game off. The Bluebirds went down to 10 men in the first half when defender Joel Bagan was sent off.

The Whites took advantage when Largie Ramazani opened the scoring. They then scored their second late on through Joel Piroe.

It could have been a lot more comfortable though is Pascal Struijk hadn’t missed his penalty.

Speaking after the game, Farke said, as per the official club website: “In this league it is always difficult to win games, especially on the road. We have to say with what we are doing and delivering at the moment on the road, three difficult away games, seven points, we haven’t conceded one goal, four-nil goal difference. It is pretty close to perfect.

“Today it was a pretty dominant and controlled performance from the first until the last second. We were so dominant and created so much. We scored two fantastic goals, the only thing we can mention again that we didn’t bury the game earlier.

“So, our conversion rate, our effectiveness in using the chances, was again today more or less the only thing I could criticise. There is no doubt about this and we will keep going on addressing it because we have to improve this. But apart from that, it was a really, really good away performance and definitely also well deserved.”

Leeds United had 79% of possession against Cardiff City and mustered up 15 shots, seven of which were on target.

Failing to take chances has been an issue for the Whites so far in this campaign and they could have been out of sight in some games if they had made better decisions in front of goal.

They have a tendency to try and walk the ball into the net and they have to start being more ruthless if they are to mount a serious challenge for automatic promotion.

It hasn’t been a bad start to this term at all for the Yorkshire outfit and they are 6th in the table, a point inside the play-offs. They are five points off West Brom at the top.

They have also only lost once and that was to recently relegated Burnley so there are plenty of positives to take for Farke’s men.

What next?

Leeds United will want to keep their momentum going with a positive result at home to Coventry City next up.

They then have games against Norwich City and in-form Sunderland before the next international break.
