The Miami Dolphins face an uncertain future at quarterback, with Tua Tagovailoa out until at least Week 7 after suffering a concussion and backup Skylar Thompson nursing an injured chest that could also keep him out. But one insider says there is more clarity when it comes to the team’s trade plans, shooting down speculation that the Dolphins plan to add another established signal caller.

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported that the Dolphins still plan on getting Tagovailoa back this season and won’t be hitting the trade block to seek a replacement. “While the Dolphins make plans at quarterback for at least the next three weeks without Tua Tagovailoa (IR, concussion), a trade for a passer doesn’t seem likely at this point,” Fowler wrote. “A source said Miami is ‘not much into it at this time.’ ”

Fowler added that it would be a “risk” to trade for a new quarterback and potentially disrupt the timeline for Tagovailoa’s return. The Dolphins have been connected to several quarterbacks in trade proposals and other speculation that they could sign a free agent like Ryan Tannehill.

But the Dolphins do face a more immediate choice, Fowler wrote. The team must decide whether Thompson can play through a rib injury or whether backup Tyler Huntley or Tim Boyle will get the start in Week
