The 49ers are coming off their bye and have the trade deadline to look forward to, meaning a mock 2025 NFL Draft is fully in order.
With the San Francisco 49ers coming off their Week 9 bye and nothing to worry too much about, other than hoping the injury list thins out a bit and the NFL trade deadline doesn’t generate too much craziness, it’s time to stop looking at the standings and fretting, and look at some 2025 NFL Draft prospects instead.
We took a look at some in the preseason, but both the draft standings and the prospects have changed a little bit since then.
So with that in mind let’s take a look at what the Niners could be doing if the draft began right before the trade deadline.
As always for the benefit of simplicity, we’ll be using the draft orderĀ as it currently stands.
So, pick No. 17 for the Niners and then going through the picks they have from there.
49ers pre-trade deadline 2025 mock NFL Draft
Pick No. 17: Emery Jones, Offensive Tackle, LSU
A strong mauler with a basketball background, Emery Jones was actually someone I mocked to San Francisco with my first draft at No. 31. While he’s been a right tackle, he has the size of a left tackle at 6-foot-6 and 322 pounds and only has been playing there due to the excellent Will Campbell manning the blindside for LSU.
As for the 49ers, blocking is still a point of concern despite there being some signs of improvement in that area.
They haven’t addressed tackle in early rounds in previous drafts, but surely now they will, right?
Pick No. 48: Seth McLaughlin, Center, Ohio State
The Niners double dip at the offensive line as they need an upgrade at center. Seth McLaughlin looks a safe bet to be a plug-and-play Day 2 center who can help man the interior for the next decade.
Standing at 6-foot-4 and 295 pounds, McLaughlin is a reliable blocker who’s had experience blocking NFL-caliber bodies when playing for both Alabama and Ohio State. He could stand to get a little stronger for the NFL, but some time in the weight room will do that.
Pick No. 79: Sai’vion Jones, EDGE, LSU
Sai’vion Jones is an interesting prospect who could rise a lot in the coming months. The 6-foot-6, 268 pound EDGE has 4.5 sacks and two forced fumbles so far for LSU and has been flashing signs of a breakout season.
The 49ers have a fine pass-rushing outfit led by Nick Bosa and Leonard Floyd, but they do need some depth and young blood as a backup, given the latter is not a long-term option for San Francisco.
Pick No. 101: Tacario Davis, Cornerback, Arizona
The 49ers could stand to add to its cornerback stocks despite the emergence of Renardo Green, and Tacario Davis adds something different as a taller cornerback with his 6-foot-4, 195-pound frame.
Davis currently has five passes defended for the season and 20 solo tackles. There’s some questions, as with most taller corners, if he can keep pace with the speedier receivers in the NFL.
That said, he looks like a good prospect for the latter stages of Day 2.
Pick No. 115: Luke Lachey, Tight End, Iowa
Iowa has a stellar reputation for developing elite NFL tight ends, including arguably the 49ers’ best ever in George Kittle, and the idea of adding his heir apparent from the same school is certainly an interesting one to say the least.
Luke Lachey has 24 receptions for 209 yards this year for Iowa. He hasn’t lit up the college arena, but neither did Kittle in college to be fair. Lachey also has mismatch potential at 6-foot-6 and 253 pounds.
Pick No. 138: Armand Membou, Offensive Tackle, Missouri
A tad undersized at 6-foot-3 and 314 pounds, Armand Membou is the starting right tackle for Missouri, but it could be argued that he could be a candidate to swing inside to guard.
In either case, one thing the 49ers could afford to spend a few picks on is offensive line depth, and Membou has been solid for Missouri in 2024.
Pick No. 192: Eric Gregory, Defensive Tackle, Arkansas
The Niners have been rumored to be chasing a defensive tackle in trade, but whether or not that equates to a high priority in the draft is another matter.
What they could do is find a Day 3 developmental prospect like Eric Gregory.
Gregory isn’t the biggest defensive tackle, but he’s fine at 6-foot-3 and 299 pounds. He’s played well for the Razorbacks with three sacks and five tackles for loss, and could be at last a situational pass-rusher on the interior.
Pick No. 234: Malachi Moore, Safety, Alabama
Malik Mustapha looks like a stud and might make it easier to say goodbye to Talanoa Hufanga, who can’t seem to stay healthy.
If that happens, San Francisco will need a new backup.
Malachi Moore has never been the star that he looked like after his freshman season, but there’s no doubt he’s a decent size at 6-foot-0 and 190 pounds and a superb athlete. If he can be coached up, he could be another safety steal for the 49ers.
He currently has two interceptions and five passes defended this year.
Pick No. 247: Nay’Quan Wright, Running Back, South Florida
The Niners must make some sort of pick at running back or wide receiver on Days 2 or 3, as is probably set in some sort of pact with a higher being. But Nay’Quan Wright has some potential with the 5-foot-9, 196-pound player being a potential change-of-pace back.
Wright has been a strong runner for South Florida, too, with 379 yards rushing at 5.1 yards per carry and 13 receptions for 55 yards.
Pick No. 249: Easton Mascarenas-Arnold, Linebacker, USC
The 49ers might make a pick to also bolster the linebacker depth a little bit, and Easton Mascarenas-Arnold looks like an intriguing prospect on the fringes of being draftable right now.
Mascarenas-Arnold is a shorter linebacker at 5-foot-11 and 232 pounds, but he’s also had 67 tackles, two sacks and two interceptions for the Trojans this year.
He bears watching.
Pick No. 255: Isaiah Neyor, Wide Receiver, Nebraska
The Niners conclude with an interesting weapon out of Nebraska in Isaiah Neyor. Neyor has bounced around since a breakout 2021 with Wyoming, tearing his ACL in 2022 before spending a season at Texas and then transferring to Nebraska this year.
Neyor has been a decent weapon this year with 21 receptions for 319 yards and four touchdowns.
The 6-foot-3, 210 pound product has some decent size also for the NFL.
